Don Wright
Board Member
Don Wright brings a lifelong commitment to service, education, and preservation to the Museum’s Board of Directors. A retired Nurse Manager with more than 30 years of experience in psychiatric healthcare, Don spent 18 years leading adolescent mental health programs at the Waco Center for Youth, where he was recognized statewide for excellence in treatment innovation and staff development. His work includes authoring award-winning treatment programs, training healthcare professionals across Texas, and presenting at psychiatric conferences on trauma-informed care.
Beyond healthcare, Don has been deeply engaged in civic and cultural leadership in Central Texas. He has served on numerous nonprofit and preservation boards, including the Waco History Project and the Historic Waco Foundation, and currently chairs the Central Texas African American Heritage Foundation. In 2025, he joined the McLennan County Historic Landmark Preservation Commission. Don’s dedication to preserving local history, advancing cultural understanding, and strengthening community institutions makes him a valued leader and advocate for the Museum’s mission.
